Mecha/Orga – 56.24 (CD album)

Mariela at first and then Nikolas, two people I really trust, really disliked the original liner notes I wrote for “56:24”.. So, actually this is the second attempt to write something about the piece. Well, I can only say that I enjoyed very much the whole process of creating, performing and finally releasing it on CD. First, that February afternoon when I recorded “56:24”. Then there were the live performances of the piece in Athens, Paris and Xanthi. Also, those meetings in Varsos for sweets and coffee. Finally, the day when the beautiful pictures for the artwork were taken…
I would also like to thank everyone I met in the past four years that I have been recording and performing as “mecha/orga”, so far it’s been fun…
Yiorgis Sakellariou, January 2007

and here comes mr. absurd’s view….
‘as if a garden being planted and you are watching all the process from the bare earth to the colourful result, comes 56:24… generating a drone layer which slowly starts the cultivation process where layers upon layers slowly build a delicate atmosphere and the way they expand and grow draws an even more colourful result, as if a swarm of insects spreads the pollen in our garden, helping it grow even more beautiful and even more colourful, lasting in a flabbergasting droning result…
or at least, such was the atmosphere last march in halandri where yiorgis sakellariou (aka mecha/orga) premiered this piece for us. and it was john pallas, who by the time the set ended proposed absurd the cd release and didn’t leave until we 3 shook hands… such also was our life in our 2006, like a fertile garden, with lots of releases and trips here and there, always ending with our occasional meetings at cafe amarrylis in kifissia for coffee (mecha/orga) & shitloads of alcohol (absurd) or at ‘varsos kifissia’ to enjoy our sweets & cofee (mecha/orga), hot/cold chocolate (absurd). and as a friend wondered of how the future will look like, we thought nice to picture mecha/orga on the cd’s front cover sleeve, as a middle aged man, thinking of how he’ll create his next piece/live set and a grey haired absurd on the cd label, probably in a meeting w/ someone to discuss an upcoming release or project in one of editions_zero’s side/ghost labels, book publishing houses, etc etc etc… comes highly recommended if you fancy instant trips to colourful droning soundgardens!!!’
